| Same numbers, similar plans - but drag racing at the track isn't too important to me. Basically this is what I got from the conversation, not trying to say these our SZ's words exactly - but a lot of my take. The first weak point is going to be the clutch. They said and single plate will only take a few launches at 700hp to seriously strain its life/holding power. In some cases they have had them totally explode. If you go to a multi plate, then the clutch will do better with the power - arguably with some effect on the DD level. But I can't speak from experience on clutch feel, so thats beside the point. Also at that power level why would you drag race a manual car? An auto is going to be faster, no doubt about it. Our manuals have nothing on our autos, and our auto have nothing on the TH400. You aren't gonna set and records, you won't beat an auto Z, and all you are going to do is throw money away on clutches, flywheels and transmissions. If you really want to drag race, and make the most of your car/setups potential a stock 5spd will not get that for you. Pull it out, go auto.
